How many ball bearings in pedals, hubs, headset and bottom …

On my vintage road racing bike the ball bearings in the rear hub look like 3/16 inch but many articles I have read dictate and specify 1/4 inch ball bearings. I counted 11 3/16 ball bearings each side, still not convinced this is the correct size.

As per grease use waterproof marine wheel bearing grease, frequently used on boat trailers. BTW its not your tire but the wheel that needs bearings.
